Bang the Bore is proud to present streaming video of Cristián Alvear’s première performance of Wandelweiser composer Radu Malfatti’s “shizuka ni furu ame” (2015, for solo guitar). The video was taken from the first concert of Bang the Bore’s Autumn 2015 Season, which doubled as the final date of Daniel Bennett, Seth Cooke and Clive Henry’s mini tour of the UK – their first together since Hunting Lodge disbanded almost ten years ago.

An evening of experimental music, cracked electronics and improvised percussion. BEEF and non-identical are delighted to welcome Burkhard Beins, one of the foundational figures of Berlin’s Echtzeitmusik scene, to the Brunswick Club for a solo percussion set and an electronics duo with Matt Davis.

Burkhard Beins is a german experimental musician working in the fields of experimental music and sound art, best known for his definitive use of percussion in improvised ensembles including Polwechsel and The Sealed Knot. He has consistently proved himself to be “one of the most imaginative percussionists around, indeed making the tag ‘percussionist’ seem hopelessly deficient”. In recent years he has also developed a unique approach to live electronics. Burkhard has worked with John Tilbury, Charlemagne Palestine, Andrea Neumann, Rhodri Davies, Keith Rowe and Axel Dörner among many others and has been performing internationally since the late 1980s.

Matt Davis an artist working with sound, music and performance who has recently relocated to Bristol from Cornwall. He first studied visual art at Central Saint Martins and now works mainly in improvised and experimental music, using trumpet, field recordings electronics. This evening he will perform a live electronics duo with Burkhard Beins, using electromagnetic fields from custom built or cracked electrical devices and the immediate situation / space as well as field recordings of electromagnetic phenomena. Matt is a member of Zeitkratzer and Broken Consort among others and has performed extensively in the UK and Europe.

Stephen Cornford is a media artist and experimental musician who reconfigures consumer electronics into expressive and reflective devices. This evening he will be performing with an audio-visual feedback system comprising two CRT monitor amplified with brainwave electrodes and a rudimentary synthesizer.
