Sarah Hughes (Compost and Height) and David Stent are pleased to introduce the first issue of the new publication BORE. The first issue contains four of James Tenney’s previously unpublished scores: 2nd Thermocouple, CHAMBER MUSIC, and Aphorisms #1 and #2.

BORE publishes scores that are primarily text-based but may encompass any form of notation or instruction intended for the realisation of musical performance, staged events, texts, images or objects. It will publish issues dedicated to the work of individual composers, performing ensembles or specifically-chosen groups of artists, writers and musicians.

In other Sara Hughes-related news, Suppedaneum have just released «Accidents of Matter or of Space», “a limited edition of 100 archival CD-R’s mounted on an 11×14 letterpress score produced by Milkfed Press in Alameda, California. A complementary informational sheet includes credits, track list, and an essay by Dominic Lash. This release brings together a solo zither improvisation recorded in a disused transmission station in mid-Wales with three realizations of the 2011 composition (can never exceed unity), performed by Rhodri Davies, Patrick Farmer, Jane Dickson, Neil Davidson, and Dimitra Lazaridou-Chatzigoga.” You can listen to an excerpt below and order it here.
